The Official Cover Artwork for Series 5 Volume 4 has now been released. The Volume will include Vincent and The Doctor, The Lodger, The Pandorica Opens and the Big Bang. The DVD comes with a Monster Files Bonus Feature and free top trumps cards. You can see the cover below:

Cumberbatch 'decided against Doctor Who

Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock

Benedict Cumberbatch reportedly turned down the chance to play the lead role inDoctor Who.

The
Sherlock actor, who recently hinted toDS that he could be appearing in future episodes of the show, was apparently in the frame to succeed David Tennant as the Time Lord.

According to
The Sun, Cumberbatch spoke to Tennant about the opportunity but decided not to pursue the role, which was eventually given to Matt Smith.

Cumberbatch said: "David and I talked about it but I thought it would have to be radically different.

"And anyway I didn't really like the whole package - being on school lunchboxes

Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series


Details of the upcoming Doctor Who fifth series DVD and Blu-ray boxsets have been revealed.
The six-disc set will feature additional bonus scenes that were filmed exclusively for the release, set inside the featuring and Amy in-between episodes. The set will also feature a video diary filmed by throughout filming, which I suspect will be a lot of fun, as well as "cut-down" episodes of Confidential and the Monster Files included Both versions of the boxset will be released on November 8,priced £69.99 (on DVD) and £79.99 (on Blu-ray).

Barrowman 'excited about Torchwood Return

John Barrowman who plays Captain Jack in the hit show has revealed that he is "ecstatic" that Torchwood will return for a ten part series in the summer of 2011

Talking to TV Choice Mag he said he is thrilled with the new deal.He also added that The show is now going to represent the BBC and the UK worldwide even more," he said. "And Starz, the American network, thought we were good enough to take this on board to collaborate and co-produce it with the BBC."

"It's just incredible that we've still got Russell T. Davies, Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter on board. I'm ecstatic. The fans who have stuck by waiting to hear are going to be heavily rewarded."

Three new characters are set to join Torchwood when the show returns next year .They have been revealed by Entertainment Weekly' .

Rex Matheson, a wickedly funny (operative word: wicked) CIA agent born to make waves.

Plus two new recurring characters
Esther Katusi, a CIA grunt in her early 20s who learns what she’s really made of only when she’s forced to,

Oswald Jones, a convicted murderer and pedophile who will be as shocked as anyone to learn how easily infamy and fame can be exchanged for one another.

Doctor Who Step Back In Time Howzat

We get to see the Doctor play football in The Lodger but it's not the first time he's dazzled us with his sporting prowess!




In the 1982 story, Black Orchid, the Doctor and his three companions arrive in Britain between the wars. There's a case of mistaken identity and the TARDIS crew are whisked away to the opulent Cranleigh Hall where the Doctor is given the chance to play in a cricket match.

Doctor Who' Christmas special plot



The BBC has teased viewers about the plot of Steven Moffat's upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special.

guest star Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins, 1843 novel A Christmas Carol.

Doctor Who's clever twist on the much loved A Christmas Carol will thrill BBC One viewers this year with special guest stars Sir Michael Gambon and singing sensation Katherine Jenkins joining Amy and the Doctor

Dickens appeared as a character in the episode
'The Unquiet Dead' with Simon Callow playing the Victorian author.

Writer and executive producer Steven Moffat also
revealed that the episode will include a "honeymoon" and be like "all your favourite Christmas movies at once".

Speaking on her first day on set, Jenkins said: "I'm over the moon to be involved in the
Doctor Who Christmas special.

"I can't quite believe it as it's a part of the family tradition at the Jenkins household. I heard the news that I got the role on my 30th birthday and it was the best birthday present ever!"

Filming will continue until August.

Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman has revealed that his upcoming Doctor Who episode has changed dramatically since he wrote the first draft.

Writing on his Twitter feed, the author discussed the instalment's rumoured working title 'The House of Nothing'.

"[The episode] was only called 'The House of Nothing' for about 20 mins in Feb 2009, when it still had a house in it. & some nothing. (sic)" he said.

Brilliant Book of Doctor Who

BBC Books has confirmed the release of The Brilliant Book of Doctor Who 2011.

The "lavish hardback" edited by Clayton Hickman covers the Eleventh Doctor's first year and is released on September 30 with an RRP of £12.99. It can be pre-ordered though the BBC Shop now for £7.99.


The book features contributions from executive producer Steven Moffat, stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, and scriptwriters Mark Gatiss and Gareth Roberts.

BBC denies 'Who' movie

The BBC has denied reports that a big-budget Hollywood film version of Doctor Who is being developed.

Rumours previously surfaced online that a movie adaptation of the show was being written by former showrunner Russell T. Davies, with Johnny Depp linked to the role of the Doctor.

However, according to
io9, the BBC has now confirmed that there are "no plans" for a film and that reports to the contrary were "pure speculation".
