Tom Price Interview

30 August 2010

The highly anticipated Tardis Travels' exclusive interview with Tom Price is now here! Tom plays PC Andy Davidson in the Doctor Who spin off Torchwood. PC Andy has been in Torchwood from the very beginning. We are very lucky to have interviewed him and we hope you like it, but be warned, dont take some of his answers seriously, he tends to add a bit of humour. You can read the interview below:

1. What did you do before you got the part of PC Andy in Torchwood?

I WATCHED A LOT OF DOCTOR WHO, PERFORMED A LOT OF STAND UP COMEDY, PRESENTED SOME LATE NGHT TV SHOWS, AND GOT SOME GSCE'S AND A-LEVELS.

2. Series 4 of Torchwood has been confirmed, are you in it?

AS OF YET I KNOW AS MUCH AS YOU - I AM EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT SERIES 4 THOUGH. I THINK RTD AND JG ARE GREAT PEOPLE TO BE IN CHARGE OF THE GOOD SHIP TORCHWOOD, AND I THINK THEY'LL CONTINUE TO MAKE SOME MORE WELSH MAGIC WITH A SLIGHTLY SPANGLEY US THEME. CAN'T WAIT.

3. What is PC Andy's future?

PIZZA, OR IF HE'S HOME EARLY ENOUGH, MAYBE STEAK AND MASH. DEPENDS ON THE TRAFFIC.

4. Is PC Andy much like you?

HE'S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. HE'S SLOW OFF THE MARK, EATS A LOT, AND DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE BASICS OF ALIEN EXISTENCE. I AM COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE.

5. What can we expect from Series 4?

MORE OF THE SAME! I WOULD LIKE PC ANDY TO GET A PROMOTION. I'M THINKING PRIME MINISTER?

6. Prime Minister? I'm sure he would make a good one, but can we expect new aliens, bigger and better stories, is there any tiny hint of a thing that you can give us?

OH I'D LOVE TO! IF I KNEW A THING I'D OPENLY STATE IT TO THE WORLD. WHICH IS POSSIBLY WHY THE POWERS THAT BE HAVE KEPT A STURDY SILENCE WHENEVER WE'VE SPOKEN ABOUT THE FUTURE.

7. What have you been doing lately with the absence of Torchwood?

I'VE WRITTEN TWO HOUR-LONG SOLO STAND UP SHOWS THAT I'VE PERFORMED AROUND LONDON AND HOPE TO TAKE ON THE ROAD VERY SOON. I'VE ALSO DONE SOME TELLY THINGS HERE AND THERE. AND I'VE FIXED MY ENTIRE HOUSE.

8. Are you a fan of Doctor Who?

UH - YEAH. I THINK THAT MATT COULD WELL BE THE BEST DOCTOR YET. AWESOME STUFF.

9. Would you ever consider starring in Doctor Who?

I'D LOOK CAREFULLY AT MY DIARY, CONSIDER THE ROLE, TALK TO MY FRIENDS/FAMILY/PETS AND THEN SCREAM, JUMP UP AND DOWN, AND DO IT. YES.

10. Have you always wanted to be an actor since you were young?

YES. I WORE A LOT OF POLO NECK SHIRTS AND SMOKED CIGARETTES WHILST PRETENDING TO BE TRAPPED IN AN INVISIBLE BOX.

11. Do people recognise you much in public?

SOMETIMES, BUT MAINLY FROM DOING ADVERTS FOR TOILET ROLL.

12. Other than acting, what do you enjoy doing in a day to day life?

WALKING MY DOG, READING, WRITING JOKES, WATCHING BOX SETS.

I'd like to thank Tom himself for giving up his time to do this for us.

Please comment with your thoughts on the interview, it would be greatly appreciated!

Series 6 to be Split

Yesterday, big news of series 6 hit the web. It was announced by the BBC and Steven Moffat himself that Series 6 will be split into 2 parts over the course of 2011. Half the Series will start broadcasting at Easter and end with an 'Earth--shattering Climax' the to be continued in the autumn. The BBC stated:

"The split transmission is the result of a request from Steven Moffat to write a new Doctor Who story arc which involves a big plot twist in the middle of the series. By splitting the series Moffat plans to give viewers one of the most exciting Doctor Who cliffhangers and plot twists ever, leaving them waiting, on the edge of their seats, until the autumn to find out what happens."

What do you think of this idea? Apparently the aim is to cut down the wait between each series and Christmas Special. So it will only be months away until the next Doctor Who. Easter, Autumn, Christmas!

Neil Gaiman Reveals Script Cuts Extract

23 August 2010

Neil Gaiman recently updated his Blog revealing that the read-through for his series 6 episode will take place in about '10 days time'. He also revealed a little extract from the scenes he had to cut from his script.

Before revealing the extract he noted "Anything that wasn't moving the plot forward has gone. Lots of interesting chatty background conversations in the TARDIS, gone. Lines of dialogue that were fun in themselves but weren't really needed? Gone. And the food scene? Very gone indeed. It's been gone since draft six." You can read this below:

AMY
Is it something people can eat?
(to Doctor)
Shouldn’t you scan it with your screwdriver or something?

THE DOCTOR
Why would I scan food with my screwdriver?

AMY
See if it’s safe?

The Doctor leans over, dips his finger into his bowl, tastes it.

THE DOCTOR
Some unusual trace elements, smidge too much background radiation, but, yeah, very yummy.

Amy is about to try some of his food... he stops her.

THE DOCTOR (cont’d)
No. Don’t put it in your mouth.

AMY
Not for humans?

THE DOCTOR
Not for you. Tastes like Marmite on socks.

Torchwood: The New World Syponsis Revealed

18 August 2010

Starz, who are working with the BBC to produce the New Series of Torchwodd, entitled The New World, have released the full synopsis for the new series. You can view this below:

When C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy, he finds himself unearthing a threat which challenges the entire human race. The answers seem to lie within an old, secret British institute, known only as Torchwood.

But Torchwood was destroyed, years ago, and the keys to the institute are held by its only two survivors – former Police Officer Gwen Cooper, who has long since disappeared along with her husband and child, and the mysterious Captain Jack Harkness, a man whose history seems to stretch back centuries.

With Rex under attack from all sides in both the US and the UK, he soon discovers there are forces at work within every level of society, determined to stop Torchwood’s return. As a chain of events across the world links together the most disparate and unlikely individuals – including a surgeon, a killer, senators and CEOs – a new Torchwood team takes shape. But this time, the threat is much closer to home, as they realize that their greatest enemy is mankind itself…

John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Kai Owen will be reprising there roles as Jack Harkness, Gween Cooper and Rhys Williams. Torchwood: The New World will be brodcast late next year with filming starting early January around The UK and USA.

Torchwood: The New World

Earlier on today, a new report from The Hollywood Reporter revelead very exicting news regaurding the next series on Torchwood, which is entitled Torchwood: The New World. The Report included quotes from Russell T Davies and Julie Gardener:

The new story will follow a CIA agent (Rex) and analyst (Ester) who tackle an alien-related global issue. Torchwood, having been destroyed and disbanded, is "like a legend now ... it's like something that's ceased to exist and is now spoken of only in whispers." Soon, Rex and Ester are on the run and are seeking out the help of Captain Jack and Gwen.

"The two teams coming together is a big part of the story -- are they friends or enemies? There's a lot of sparks and excitement."
"We definitely have a really big story to tell," added executive producer Julie Gardner. "It's absolutely rebooted to welcome in a new audience." ....
The ten episodes will be very fast paced, telling a self-contained story with the miniseries "Children of Earth" being used as a template.

Being on Starz, the show could potentially take advantage of looser standards for nudity and violence."I've always had loose standards and practices," Davies said. "If the story demands intimacy or savagery, we will go there absolutely ... [but] there's nothing better than a great big global thriller that stops for a sex scene -- it's probably hard to make that happen in a thriller."

This next report comes from USA Today:

The team has left Wales for America, as creator Russell T. Davies has left Britain for Los Angeles. The case will tie the two remaining Torchwood members (Jack and Eve Myles's Gwen) to the CIA, and will expand into a world-wide threat. And yet, says Davies, it "will be faithful" to the BBC original.

Davies says this story, which "had been ticking away in my mind for a long while," had not been planned as a Torchwood story at all. "And suddenly I thought, there's a popular show, there's a great story, let's put them together...It felt like it definitely could move forward and become new again."

Though it will be newer and bigger, the tone won't change, says Davies. Barrowman's Jack will still be TV's only bi-sexual hero, character will still be stressed, and humor will still play a large part in the show's make-up.

"I sit there in the editing room saying 'Don't cut that joke! Cut the plot, cut the murder, cut the story, but don't cut the joke.'...It will always be a cheeky show."

The New Series will Star Jack, Gwen, Rhys, Rex and Ester played by John Barrowman, Eve Myles Kai Owen with the roles of Rex and Ester to be announced.
